Don't let your loved ones' journey be forgotten. Reconnect to their story and create a legacy of belonging. Unlike a photo album or written oral history, a legacy connections biography video gives you the complete sense of being with the ones you love. Feel like you can spend time with them forever!
Legacy Connections Films uses the 100 Years framework to make sure that 100 years from now your loved ones' legacy will live on as a video family history. We use this framework to ensure that in the future people will feel like they really know your loved ones, not just see them in a photograph and wonder what they were like. We don't just film to capture what's going on today, we film to make sense of what's happening today for future generations.
Unlike news-style video biographies, audio oral histories, or legacy family history books, at Legacy Connections Films we employ the following strategies to make your family documentaries timeless:
- Our legacy videos are never scripted or manipulated, but instead, reflect what you love most about your loved ones and why you want them to be remembered for 100 years or more. We go with the flow and we believe the best biography videos happen as a result of this philosophy.
- Our staff is specially trained in a unique process that spontaneously evokes the best stories and responses from you with no effort on your part required.
- We take the time to get to know you, spending months working on each project, unlike some companies that promise fast turnaround at the expense of capturing the right moments.
- Our teams are uniquely skilled in asking the kinds of questions and setting up the kinds of environments that bring forth what is special, unique, and unexpected in your family's story.
- We never use an outside narrator recounting your loved ones' story and the facts of their life, instead we capture it from them, in their own words for a more memorable experience and family legacy.
There are many ways that people have used Legacy Connections Films to reconnect with their loved ones, here are some of our favorites:
When Ann decided to create a family legacy video to honor her parents' memory, her sister Meira wasn't that enthusiastic about it. Over the course of the year that we worked together, Meira not only changed her mind about the biography video, she became just as invested in it as Ann and ended up participating in sharing memories of her parents as did her son.
Incidentally, when we started the project Ann thought it would be something that her children would enjoy having, but her daughter became pregnant while we were filming, and so now her three-year-old grandson, Dylan, will be able to feel like he can meet his great grandparents. One day he will share the video family history with his kids and grandkids. Larry's father, a successful lawyer and beloved husband and dad, was turning 70 and Larry and his family wanted to surprise him with a very special gift, a surprise biography video. He had thought to maybe attempt it on his own, but soon realized he wasn't up to the challenge of organizing the interviews with his relatives and editing it all together. For this project, because it was a surprise, we used our sleuth skills and even filmed Larry's father while he was practicing his weekly Tai Chi at the public beach and on a walk with his wife through the park.
He had no idea what his family was up to, until his birthday when they screened the 20 minute tribute to him, where each of his kids got to share their most precious memories of time shared with their dad and to tell him how much he means to them. The legacy video also filled in the basic biographical details of his life, so that in 100 years his descendants will be able to not only feel like they met him, but they will know how loved he is and what makes him such a wonderful father and husband.
