Your Legacy Beyond the Wealth

Our clients share our passion for family and a need to communicate and connect with family. Most of our clients are successful members of multi-generational family businesses and land trusts, many within the first two generations or in the critical transition points of third and fourth generation succession planning. It is our vision that we can serve you and your family through cinematic storytelling to help you maintain your family's success through a process that will both bring you closer and allow you to see things about yourselves and each other that you may never have thought possible.

Arielle's great-grandfather, Jacob, is pictured on the far right sitting next to his wife, Clara. They both emigrated from Ukraine and met in Chicago where Jacob founded and ran a custom furniture business with his three sons. On the far left is Arielle's grandfather, Lawrence, who always encouraged and supported Arielle to follow her dreams.

During the past decade of working with families, we've seen decades-long family rifts heal and disengaged family members reconnect. Over and over, we've helped families to celebrate and express their collective heritage, values and vision. And most importantly, we help them to listen to each other and to be heard.

So whether you are

  • Facing the reality of aging family members who may not be around to share their stories and experiences,
  • Dealing with the challenges surrounding transfer of assets, trusts, and succession,
  • Or looking for a way to ensure that the rising generation in your family understands their roots,
our process will not only create films that your family will pass on for generations to come, but also the invaluable opportunity for you to come together and understand yourselves in a new light.

Our clients, the Leahys, celebrated the 150th Anniversary of their company, American Hotel Register in January of 2015. Jim Leahy, Chairman, and his wife, Linda, hired Arielle to tell the history of how their company evolved from a small printing operation of about 15 employees to an international, multi-faceted distribution enterprise. According to Linda, what started as a project to commemorate the company's milestone gradually expanded to be a comprehensive account of both sides of their family history as well as a portrait of their current extended family. It wasn't long before Jim and Linda were sharing tales of their childhoods, memories about family members long passed, and the importance of their own children and grandchildren in their lives. This "snowball" effect, as Linda calls it, happens naturally because Arielle shows a "genuine compassion and interest" for people's stories.

How We Serve Family Businesses

"There's a warmth in doing this. There's a certain amount of life and value in doing this. I think this has been a time that helped me stop and think about the meaning of my life."
Jim Leahy, Chairman of
American Hotel Register

"Whatever that story is, it's alive in me. I thought she was skillful enough to bring it out so that I could appreciate it and I could see the value and beauty of my family. She tells the story you may not have known was there."
Linda Leahy

Meaning doesn't lie in things. Meaning lies in us. When we attach value to things that aren't love -- the money, the car, the house, the prestige -- we are loving things that can't love us back. We are searching for meaning in the meaningless. Money, of itself, means nothing. Material things, of themselves, mean nothing. It's not that they're bad. It's that they're nothing.
Marianne Williamson
